That's fine for Florida, what about the Northern tier states?

And what about private property rights? Is there still such a thing in the USA of today?

Laura Earl and I are getting married the 27th of this month and we are honeymooning in FLA. I will report back when I return. I plan to interview the people at every restaurant we go to about the ban and business.

heck not even just the northern ones...........it's cold and raining here right now and they've got an inch of snow in parts of Delaware and sleet in other areas.....

I'm headed up there this afternoon for a couple of days. I plan on checking in on some of my former haunts to see how they are doing.....including the ones that are thumbing their noses at the ban and have been since it went into effect over a year ago.

As to private property rights....the only ones left are those where people actually understand the term.

From now until next November, it will be nice sitting outside at a restaurant to have a meal in Florida.  It's beautiful there, I admit.  But no one mentions the private property rights in this article.  Perhaps you can bring that up while your there.

Although I must admit I like not having to smell cigarette smoke at my favorite sports bar, this ammendment was an assault on liberty and property rights.

I'll be back Thursday afternoon....it's just a quick trip..I've got some business to attend to, most of which is in regard to the smoking ban.

They voted on this?

Yes. But not everyone turned out. And this is what happened. And those that did vote YES, didn't realize the full implications of the ban.

It was a constitutional amendment.
23% of the elegible voters turned out for it. Who knows the percentage of smokers that turned out.
They also made it a constitutional amendment to ban the abuse of pot bellied pigs.
At least they attempted to do it the right way.
If something like these amendments are in the constitution I know it's not a state that I want to move to. I don't care what the weather is like.

I don't smoke anything, but I see the business's hurting badly. Places are about to close, April 1 is the effective date of the next tier of nazi control.

Here in CT, no such thing happened......in August of last year, it was announced that the ban would be in place in Oct.........

I plan to use several points.


1. What do you think of the ban?

2. Is business up or down?

3. Do you feel your rights as a business owner are being taken away?

BUT ON PRIVATE PROPERTY - Owners decide

How many of these voters NEVER go in the bars and places where the smokers go? This was one part of the population deciding what another group of people can do with their private property.

WRONG.

CT has even shutdown the bar smoking completely.

That's exctly what they did in Delaware just about a year and a half ago. The only thing that has kept some places I know in business is the fact in addition to their bar license, they have a license for sale of alcohol for off premise consumption.

If you think they'll stop here, you're so wrong.

Believe me, I know. I'm not familiar with the exact wording of the CT ban, but the DE states specifically "tobacco." Several places I know of are getting around that by no longer selling regular cigarettes, they only sell the herbal brands (not marijuana)and at least one has twice beaten fines because the gestapo could not tell if patrons were smoking the herbals ortobacco cigarettes.

One of the prime sponsors of the ban is not happy with that and has already stated she is going to look into addressing that "loophole." part of my reason for going to Delaware today is to help with discussions about that.
